Materials: Abachy wood Techniques: 3d scanning, CNC milling, joinery June, 2015
This piece was made during research of the possibilities of combining 3d scanning and production techniques with broken objects and surfaces. A 3d scan provided the info to design two consoles in a computer model. Those console where then produced by a computer controled milling machine. The shelf was crafted by hand to fit the consoles. The result is a wooden bookshelf that is hold up structurally only by its exact fit to the broken wall. The shelf can be placed and removed in seconds and shows the interesting potential and esthetics of of combining 3d techniques and broken structures.
