A hybrid theater
How to act with the existing structure on the building plot? That was the issue to be solved in this design assignment. The building on site had no extravagant appearance, but had beautifull lighting due to its shed roof and a industrial quality that was worth keeping. The design solution consists of a mass that is ‘folded’ over, in and around the old building, leaving its identity intact but absorbing it into the whole of the building. The enclosed industrial interior space serves as entrance, foyer and restaurant and is the beating heart of the design.
